Studland & The Knoll

Knoll House stands in a magnificent setting among pine trees with outstanding views of Studland Bay and the Isle of Wight. In 1931 a duke's seaside summer refuge became a small hotel. The track behind the beach grew into a road to the harbour mouth but little else has changed. The South West Coast Path to Minehead in Somerset starts here, its first few miles along the Purbeck Heritage Coast below us. To the north and west are nature trails and bird-watching reserves. Projecting out into the Channel, as we do, is a guarantee of better weather than on the mainland. We have our own warmer micro-climate in Studland.

You will enjoy the space at Knoll House, both inside and out of doors. Our grounds extend to about 100 acres and include the eight acres of Spring gardens at Studland Bay House which contain some rare and interesting species. Open to our guests at all times, they are a haven of peace.

Knoll House has always relied on the spoken word and individual bookings. An average guest to staff ratio of two to one gives a high standard of friendly, willing and cheerful service and the food is excellent. One of the obligations we assume on behalf of our guests is that of preserving the singular atmosphere of the hotel, something which we have seen evolve over the years. Family reunions are always welcome but we avoid other groups, conferences, business meetings and wedding receptions.  Rather than a public bar serving bar food, we have a unique cocktail lounge and terrace enjoying superb views of the bay and Isle of Wight.
