Spring has sprung at Knoll House
Spring heralds the start of better weather, new life, and longer days to enjoy together. There’s no better time to pack your bags for a getaway – and no better place than Dorset to get away to.
This year, Easter Sunday falls on 9th April and with a half term and no fewer than three bank holidays in May – including the King’s coronation – April and May are months to savour. Here, we share our pick of what’s on in Dorset this spring.
Easter breaks at Knoll House
See the real beauty of spring with a break at Knoll House. Throughout the Easter holidays, you’ll find daily children’s activities such as quizzes and bingo, and of course, our legendary Easter egg hunt. Beyond the hotel, there’s the whole of Studland Bay to discover, as well as the wider coast and countryside of Dorset – just right for shaking off those last shadows of winter.
Easter trails
We all love an Easter trail – whatever our age. You’ll find many different options locally, with trails running during the holidays at Minterne Gardens, Durlston Country Park, Swanage Pier, Sherborne Castle, Lulworth Castle, and the combined Dorset Museums. Or try something new by heading over to the Moors Valley Railway for a trail with a difference – spotting all the eggs as you ride along on the Easter Express.
Family foraging and bushcraft
Keen to spend more time outdoors? Join the Fore Adventure team in Studland for a family-friendly bushcraft and foraging session. You’ll connect with nature while trying a wide range of activities, including fire lighting, shelter building and tool use. The two-hour sessions are suitable for ages four and up, making this a great way to explore new skills.
Music and theatre
Head off for some classic fun at an Easter-themed production. On Sunday 16th April, choose from Mother Goose at the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne and Rapunzel at Weymouth Pavilion. If music is more your thing, you’ll find it right here at Knoll House. On Saturdays 29th April, 6th May and 27th May, we’re hosting live entertainment in our lounge – the perfect pairing with a relaxed dinner or drinks.
Adventures at Corfe Castle
Just six miles away from Knoll House is Corfe Castle: a dream destination for active imaginations. During the Easter holidays, families can complete nature-inspired challenges set by the Corfe Castle dragon, exploring the castle ruins along the way. While you’re there, we recommend taking the short walk along to the village with its historic tearoom and well-stocked shop.
Early May bank holiday
The first of May’s bank holidays falls on the 1st, making it the ideal opportunity to start the month well. We’re even hosting a bank holiday break to help you do just that: come along for three nights from 29th April. Rest and recharge in the quiet of spring, with vast beaches and coastal paths on your doorstep.
The King’s Coronation
Celebrate one of 2023’s biggest events in royal style. Mark the coronation of King Charles III by joining us for a very special afternoon tea, with bunting, flags, and a glass of fizz. And on 6th May, watch the coronation in comfort in our cinema room. To make the most of the bank holiday weekend, stay with us for a three night break with dinner included.
May half term breaks
From 26th May to 4th June, join us for a special half term break, with dinner, children’s activities and arrival drinks included. Then, once you’re here, venture out to see what’s on locally. New events are being announced all the time, so for the latest guide to what’s on, check the Visit Dorset website and keep an eye on the Knoll House kid's activity programme which will be on the wall at reception.
