Pedal around Purbeck
For avid cyclists keen to explore the Isle of Purbeck by bike, Dorset for You has put together Pedal around Purbeck. This leaflet shows six Dorset cycle routes, from eight to 47 miles long, with a map, tips and safety information, as well as contact details for bike shops and cycle clubs.
The Virtual Swanage website features a whole section on cycling in Dorset, with cycle routes ranging from five to 50 miles, both on and off road. The step-by-step directions begin in Swanage, so it’s easiest to view the map of the route and plan your own journey.
Purbeck Cycle Hire
If you haven’t brought your bike with you but still want to go for a cycle, Purbeck Cycle Hire offers everything from children’s to electric bikes, helmets, puncture repair kits and route maps. The shop’s based in Norden by Corfe Castle, just a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Their website also features maps for one- to six-hour cycle trails, including off-road tracks through forests and nature reserves.
