Make family memories together this summer

From babies to grandparents – and everyone in between – Knoll House makes the perfect getaway for multi-generational family holidays.

We’re always delighted to welcome families back to Knoll House, year after year. In fact, one of our greatest successes is that some guests have been returning here for over 30 years. This could be because of our warm welcome, our amazing location, or our delicious food – or it could simply be because Knoll House is the perfect holiday spot for every generation.

There’s an awful lot to love about taking a holiday all together. Younger guests can enjoy Knoll House’s extensive children’s facilities, while parents and grandparents spend quality time with them, and with each other, while still finding time to rest and relax. Here, grandparents and grandchildren can make priceless memories together, while parents also enjoy a break.

So, with the sun well and truly shining, why not make the most of a glorious English summer at Knoll House?

The secret of our success is that a stay at Knoll House really does offer something for everyone. Here at the hotel, children can burn off steam and let their imaginations run wild in our pirate ship play area; newly redeveloped in honour of its predecessor, which was a much-loved part of many family holidays during Knoll House’s history. There’s also our games room, ideal for older children and teenagers, and a cinema room, which shows matinee films at 3pm every day during the holidays.

For adults and children alike, there’s plenty to do in the sun, from swimming in the outdoor pool and paddling pool, to getting together for a classic game of croquet or a round of golf on our nine-hole pitch-and-putt course. If tennis is more your cup of tea, we have two courts available for guests to use, with rackets and balls available to borrow. Or for total relaxation (or some quiet time while the grandparents take over), we have a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

Just across our golf course, you’ll find beautiful Studland Bay with its four miles of sand and lowland heath. This is an ideal spot for watersports, with dinghy hire, kayaking, bodyboarding and windsurfing available. We’ve also partnered with our friends at Fore Adventure to offer outdoor activities at the hotel from Easter to October, including kayaking, bushcraft and paddleboarding.

And thanks to our location on the Jurassic Coast, there’s lots for families to see and do locally. Activities range from sailing and fishing to horse riding and golf – and if you enjoy the freedom of exploring by bike, there’s a network of cycle trails to discover in Dorset. Bike hire, for both children and adults, is available from Cyclexperience in Purbeck.

There’s not only a lot to see, but also new and interesting ways to see it. How about cruising around Brownsea Island and Studland Bay from the open deck of a boat? Or sitting back in vintage style as you chug along the Swanage Railway? You can even combine a classic railway journey with a visit to Corfe, venturing on to experience Corfe Castle or Corfe Castle Model Village.

Best of all, staying at a hotel as a larger family needn’t feel like a logistical challenge. We have a number of family friendly suites and interconnected rooms to choose from, meaning children and grown-ups can have their own space (if they’d like) while still feeling close at hand. We even welcome dogs, meaning that no member of your family needs to feel left out.

This summer, we’re offering a special Fun in the Sun family break, with options to stay for two, three or four nights in a two-bedroom family suite. As well as all our family facilities, we’ll be running a range of children’s activities throughout the summer, such as art workshops and face painting. Book online or call 01929 450450 to book.
